Premise Alert Program
The Illinois Premise Alert Program allows public safety agencies to maintain important information about individuals with special needs or disabilities that may be helpful during an emergency. When responding to a registered address, police officers, firefighters, paramedics, and other emergency personnel can access this information to better understand an individual’s needs before they arrive.
The program was established under the Illinois Premise Alert Program Act (430 ILCS 132) to help ensure public safety services are accessible to individuals with special needs or disabilities. Having this information available can help emergency responders better prepare for and appropriately manage an emergency involving a registered individual.
Information submitted through the Premise Alert Program is kept confidential and is used only to assist public safety personnel in providing emergency services. Registration information expires two years after it is submitted and must be renewed to remain in the database.
Participation in the program does not result in preferential treatment or guarantee a particular response by the Marengo Fire & Rescue Districts.
Who may qualify?
For purposes of the Premise Alert Program:
Disability means a physical or mental impairment that substantially limits one or more major life activities, a record of such an impairment, or being regarded as having such an impairment.
Special needs individual means an individual who has, or is at increased risk for, a chronic physical, developmental, behavioral, or emotional condition and who requires health or related services beyond those generally required by other individuals.
Registering or Renewing Information
You may enroll, update, or renew Premise Alert information at any time by completing and submitting a new registration form. Forms are also available at Marengo Fire & Rescue Districts fire stations or may be requested by calling (815) 568-8912, Monday through Friday, between 8:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m.
